travel

Traveling teaches you what you’re made of.  No other experience equals its vastness and unknowingness.  It grinds down your bones and your nerves.  Traveling across the open country—gps raging against the map and logic, tires going flat, planes arriving late, weather changing rapidly, losing your shit (material and mind).   Travel challenges your patience, your flexibility, your will to survive.  It teaches you how to budget.  Your worldview will die; it forces creativity and imagination to understand the world in light of your new experiences.  You’re forced to open up, to trust strangers.  You’re forced to make friends and communicate effectively.  Travel will show you just how big and beautiful this earth is and how small you are in comparison.  Most importantly it will show you that you are not alone in your journey, and there are people all over the globe just waiting to be your friend.
